Best way to start a Wednesday? Coffee and NEW MARVEL COMICS. And, of course, the brand new Thor #1! Hit up your local comic shop for the goodness.

Via Buzzfeed, here’s a peak at Thor #2!  Line art by me (also above) and awesome color from Matt Wilson, once again.

Issue #1 is out TOMORROW!

So this is one of the covers Marvel canceled because of the Milo Manara/Spider-Woman controversy.
I actually thought this was one his best variants.

I believe this is the variant cover for Thor: God of Thunder #25. The Manara variant that is canceled appears to be a variant for Thor #2, which would presumably feature the new female Thor and is likely more provocative than this.

Signal boost!
Not a cancelled cover. Don’t get upset over Marvel’s decision because *this* cover isn’t offensive.
And just because Marvel won’t publish are that they’ve purchased doesn’t mean they’re censoring anyone. Manera is free to draw whatever he wants but Marvel isn’t obligated to publish it and no one is obligated to buy it (and frankly if people bought it last time, Marvel wouldn’t have cancelled it this time).

I highlighted the line that needs to be addressed. Comic companies measure sales my LCS orders not orders to individual buyers. Thats how its been for decades thus Marvel (or any comic company) do not know the full sales of specific issues, especially variant covers. Variants are designed specifically to up the orders on a comic to an LCS because they have to by X amount to get it, and then the shop slaps a price on said Variant. As far as anyone knows all the the Milo Manara variants sold extremely well, or extremely poorly. This decision has nothing to do with the Manara variant sales and everything to do with avoiding controversy.
I also want to state, most comic fans are more likely to see variant covers online than actually at comic shops. Unless they are released mostly 50/50 (like lots of DC variants now) chances are if you even saw a Manara variant at a shop there was only one in a batch of comics because the shop ordered 20 or so to get it.
